Stringtown School (Solon School)

Stringtown School, also know as Solon School was southeast of DeRossett on the road to Eastland near the fire tower.  The building was a log cabin near where the Church of Christ now stands.

Stringtown teachers included:
Lydia Bohannon – Rufus Dodson – Mattie Frasier – Elsie Powell Rackley – Clark Scott – Ray Scott – Jay Scott – Evylin Sims – Fannie Spain – Joe Wilhite, Jr., and Mary Alma Hunter Wallace.

Family names in the Stringtown community included Donaldson, Sapp, Welch, Young, Driver, Bryant, Rice, and Holloway.
