Ravenscroft School  (Black)

Ravenscroft School for Black children was located in the Black community on Pack Road.  Carl Rowan, the syndicated columnist, an ambassador, and author of several books was born in the Ravenscroft Community.  Ann Verble met him at a book festival in Nashville in 1992 and asked him whether he had attended school in White County.  He acknowledged that he was a native of White County and that some of his siblings had attended school in the county, but Mr. Rowan said that he did not.
